Winter Skin Essentials

Winter might be nearly over but I really wanted to do a post on winter skin essentials. Lots of these products have been essentials for me this winter so I wanted to share them with you and give you a bit of inspiration of how you can help your skin in cold weather.

Moisturisers

This might seem obvious but moisturisers, especially body butters, are one of the number one things that will help dry skin! The Soap & Glory Righteous Butter is really good and smells amazing, they also do a Righteous Butter Creamy Body Wash that also works as a moisturiser as it’s super hydrating, so it’s great for dry skin. If you don’t want to spend that much money then Treacle Moon do amazing body butters too for a really good price.

Face Oil

I’d never really thought of adding a face oil into my skincare routine, but after getting this Balanceme Rose Otto Face Oil in my advent calendar at Christmas, it’s become part of my daily skincare routine. I use this face oil in place of a daytime moisturiser and it feels so much more nourishing. It’s supposed to strengthen, plump and nourish the skin and, whether it does all of this I don’t know, but my skin has definitely been feeling a lot less dehydrated. The only downside to this one is that it doesn’t contain an spf, but I’m sure you can find other face oils that do.

Lip Balms

Lip balm is definitely an essential in winter because no one wants dry, cracked lips – they’re painful and just don’t look good either. Applying lip balm whenever your lips feel dry will definitely help during winter (and any other time). This Liz Earle Superskin Superlip Balm is supposed to plump, replenish and soften your lips and it also contains Shea butter to help protect against dryness. If you just want a lip balm to keep your lips moisturised then Vaseline is an amazing brand and I’m pretty sure most people have owned a tin of Vaseline in their life!

Hydrating/Nourishing Face Mask

This isn’t an essential but it’s definitely a good idea for a pamper evening or even just to treat your skin. I try to apply a face mask at least twice a week and during the colder months, I’ve been trying to switch up my normal pore cleansing face masks for something a bit more nourishing and hydrating. I’ve been using this Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask by Liz Earle, which leaves your skin smoother as well as rehydrated. I also love the Garnier Moisture Bomb sheet masks because these are amazing at rehydrating your skin.

Hand Creams

For me, hand creams are another essential during the cold weather. I don’t like the feeling of cracked, dry hands so I stick a tube of hand cream in my bags and next to my bed so that I remember to put it on. Soap & Glory’s Hand Food is a great hand cream because it’s non-greasy – there’s nothing worse than having slippery hands for the next 15 minutes after putting hand cream on! The Body Shop also do really good hand creams that smell amazing.

I hope that this post helped some of you or that you just enjoyed reading it if you don’t live in a cold country! What’s your number one skin essential during Winter?

  1. Nice post 😀 I also like using face oils and I recommend you cannabis oil! 🌿 It’s fantastic for skin, it keep skin moisturised and very soft. I love it. And, you might be shocked that it’s cannabis – but don’t worry, it isn’t a drug, ha ha 😉 xx

  2. My favorite facial moisturizer is Time Wise by Mary Kay! It’s so light and doesn’t irritate my skin. —https://emilyryannblogblog.wordpress.com/
